This Ramadan, we invite you to a special evening of reflection, community, and impact at our 2025 Afghan Refugee Relief Ramadan Fundraising Iftar Dinner. We are honored to welcome Naz Amiri—entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist—who will share her inspiring insights on resilience, opportunity, and empowerment.

Our mission is to help incoming Afghan refugees successfully resettle, assimilate, and thrive in America.

 

Afghan Refugee Relief (ARR) is a proud, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on resettling refugees, asylum-seekers and humanitarian parolees in Southern California.

This is a grassroots effort led by the Afghan-American diaspora, with a commitment to radical transparency.

    If you are requesting aid as a refugee or on behalf of a family, complete the questionnaire below. All requests and disbursements go through a multi-stage validation and verification process to ensure that funds are being used appropriately.

We are so proud to announce that the County of Orange has unanimously agreed to create a brand new Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs. As one of our founding board members stated “this was a long awaited hope that has now become a reality”. ARR along with 22 other immigrant and refugee organizations led by @cairgla, with @accesscal @upliftcharity @icnasocal @icnareliefusa, had representatives make public comment before the vote, during the vote and we were there for the press conference today. We are so very proud of our community, we did it! This is going to change lives.
On March 3rd, 2023 our Intake team was referred family “A”, who were the recipients of a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) for their work in Afghanistan serving American personnel. They had arrived in Los Angeles the week prior via Pakistan where they had made the impossible decision of leaving behind their fourth child, a 4 month old baby boy. They had been told that the baby would be able to leave with them on the day of their flight to the USA, the same day their Visa expired in 3.5 months. Unfortunately the consulate did not process his documentation in time. We had two key ARR folks work on this case, they handled the logistics of groceries, wishlists, appointments, emotional support, advocacy, liaising with the State Department, USCIS, multiple immigration attorneys and so much more. With the Grace of God we were able to obtain a stamp in their passport and get the father on a flight to Pakistan with funds from ARR. After nearly two weeks of troubleshooting the many problems that arose, on April 9th, 2023 our volunteer took the baby’s mother and siblings to the airport to receive him in her arms. God is Good. “Family” 5 is actually a group of Muslim children who arrived to the United States alone, without caregivers. These children all currently live in shelter care. ARR’s Unaccompanied Children’s Taskforce has been diligently and quietly serving them since they arrived in many different capacities. We would like to ensure that their Ramadan ends with items they requested of us, and their Eid is memorable. Let’s be their family while they are away from theirs. Link in bio and stories.

Why we’re prioritizing the resettlement efforts

Hundreds of thousands of Afghans have and will be arriving in America. Forcibly displaced populations suffer a breakdown of support systems and community structures, a lack of services, and the absence of basic necessities which puts these Afghans in high-risk situations. These future Americans will need our support in helping them get settled and adjusted to their new lives in America. Our investments in these families today will pay dividends to the wellbeing and progression of Afghanistan tomorrow.
